Barr Village Throughout the Years
Barr is an excellent base for walking, forming part of The Carrick Way and the routes
forming part of The Ayrshire Walking Festival.
There are various walks through the
Changue forest. Nearly 20 miles of paths have been joined to form circular routes
by riverside, forest and open hill. Access is thanks to the goodwill and generosity
of the landowners and Forest Enterprise.
To reach the forest car park at the Kings
Hotel take the single track road following the Water of the Gregg up past the village
school for 1 km (1/2 a mile), then left at the first fork to the car park where the
start to the four walks begin.
Every trail is designated by a coloured arrow, blue,
yellow, red and green.
